This chair each comes with an Allen key and no easy way to turn that key in full rotations which makes assembly tedious (especially if you get more than one). Have a ratcheting screwdriver with some hex bits on hand for faster assembly.

Between the four of these that I purchased the finish isn't consistent. It's not as if I will return these but one chair's stain is not so thoroughly applied.

One of the four was missing some metal inserts for the machine screws (flat end) to screw in to under the seat. For this one I had to pack the empty holes with wood chips and screw-in a wood screw (pointy end).

I would definitely recommend these chairs and am pleased now that assembly is completed.

Don't get too excited when the package arrives - assembly time is lengthy. One box did not have any instructions - good thing we had ordered multiples. Despite following the directions the holes did not line up so pieces had to be switched around. Perhaps right and left are different in China. Once assembled they looked fantastic but wobbled a lot so we used felt feet cushions to balance them out. First thing in the morning my daughter climbed up, ate breakfast and climbed down - 2 chips right on the seat top. The seat piece is the worst quality piece of them all. The edges are rough, they look liked they were chipped and then repainted. The manufacturer should really go back to the drawing board on these stools because they look great and are comfortable to sit in (even without a cushion) but the quality is disappointing.

Cons

  • Difficult To Assemble

Best Uses

I shopped for several weeks for the right barstools for our kitchen pennisula. [...]Although somewhat tedious to assemble (even for engineer husband), we were pleased with the result.... until the veneer began to chip a few days into use. Regardless of how careful we are getting on and off the stools, more chips appear every few days. We are quite dissapointed and will make sure to order solid wood seats to replace these.

Cons

  • Holes don't line up

Best Uses

It took a little creative thinking and strength to get the holes to line up (Yes we looked and followed the directions). Once the screws were in place, it required some strength to pull the parts(Legs & Seat) together. There were some small gaps after the install. Overall, its plywood construction; nothing fancy but it serves a purpose and fits our needs at a good price.

Product was very difficult to assemble. Obviously there is no quality control, not happy about the color or anything. Luckily I got them on sale, otherwise would have sent them back. They will do for now, but would not recommended anyone buying.

Ordered 3 of these [...] They weren't as difficult to assemble as we assumed they would be based on other reviews. They are standing up well to our 4 year old son and look great in the kitchen. The seat is a little large for a barstool, (about the same size as a regular dining chair) so they wouldn't work well if you are tight on space. *reviewed this item to receive a $10 coupon from hayneedle.com
