The stools arrived in good shape. These were to replace some plain wooden stools I'd had over 20 years. The tops on the old stools had started to split and you do NOT want to sit on a stool with a splitting top. It will PINCH you. These appealled to me because they had swivel tops. The base is smaller than my old stools(10 in. between each leg vs. 12 in. on old stools). Although the ad says 29 in. tall, the top is actually a little over 31 in from floor (I just measured with a steel tape measure) and that is almost too tall for my short legs. With the smaller base and the extra height, they appear to be leaning - I think it is an optical illusion but still... Also guess I did not think about the fact that I used my old stools sometimes for climbing up to get to high kitchen cabinets - can't do that anymore with the swivel top! So now I need a stepstool. The quality appears good. I would recommend them and I plan to keep them but in hindsight - think I should have stuck with the plain old non-swivel style.

Be sure to order the correct height. I got the 30" which are only two inches less than my countertop. the stools are beautifully finished, the cherry is more light brown than regular cherry, and swivel works well. The legs aren't spread out which means that they tuck in well under the counter, but also that they will be a little easier to tip. I am not returning them because my husband will trim off the legs to make them work. Great buy

These are a full 31 inches to the top of the seat, the swivel is stiff so they dont just spin when you move them about. Our bar is 43 inches and these fit very well. The cross bars are at an odd height, but aside from that small detail; these are a fine choice for an inexpensive pre-assembled stool. Over all, very pleased with the purchase.
