    I read the reviews and knew the assembly would be a pain, but it was worse than that. There were no instructions at all. You could feel the screws when you sat in the seat. We unstapled the "ostrich" and put the screws down through the seat rather than up. We added nuts and washers and then had to hack saw the end of the screw to make sure the stool would swivel. It is comfortable and sturdy, but it is a very poor design for assembly. I really love the bar stool, but the manufacturer should be more up front about the assembly and possibly even redesign it.

    Very handsome stools, but assembly is cumbersome as the screws included are not sufficient and sometimes don't align. Some screws stick through the seating pad because they are too long. We tried to remove one of these and the screw remained lodged in the nut brace in the seating pad and we couldn't budge it. We read all other reviews after purchase and bought additional screws before we tried to assemble them as we new we were in for a challenge. Nevertheless, the manufacturer is very accomodating in the replacement of any defect, if you have the patience. When they assemble correctly they are aweseome and worth every penny. Sleek, stylish and comfortable. I have a hard time sending my husband off to work as he has been enjoying an additional cup of coffee in delightful comfort and style.

        I agree with others. The directions are absolutely pathetic. A ton of screws but doesn't say which ones go where. Get ready for at least 45 minutes of assembly. Great height that I needed. So far so good. I got mine for [$]! Better deal than other sites I checked out that wanted anywhere from $155-225. Peace to all. Check out [...] if your into hats by the way.

          I had all the same issues as the others - hardware was a mess but I used the longer screws and added washers. It took time no doubt. I also had an issue with one of the arms being stripped out and I called the manufacturer and they sent a new one. The only other negative was that do not have larger people sit in them. One of my friends is about 325 lbs and he leaned back and "cracked" the back so it is defintely weak now. However, for the style, height, and the fact that they swivel AND have arm rests for the price, the value is excellent if you can deal with the assembly. You will not find a bar stool with these characteristics for the money.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

            Q1: What is the metal made out of? And will it rust?

            A: The bar stool is made from stainless steel with an expoxy finish over the metal (it looks like a painted frame) and is upholstered in leather and is not intended to be outdoors so not the item should not rust if kept away from the elements.
